My credit card is ripping me off.....?

I have a rather large balance on a credit card that I pay on time like clockwork Out of the blue they jacked the interest rate from 12.99 to 26.3 for no reason whatsoever.I called and they basically said tough s***.If i quit paying this card, what are the consequences?
