How to clean my laptop after a spill?

i spilled ginger ale on my pc about two weeks ago and have tried to take they keys off to get underneath and clean it but that didnt work too well and had to take it in to get the key put back on. my laptop still works but its hard to type. ecspecially with the space bar and the shift and caps lock on. some one please help!
